ISEP-IPP - Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto - Instituto Politécnico do Porto

The Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) is an institution dedicated to higher education, research and development activities. The Engineering School of the IPP is the ISEP, one of the largest engineering schools in Portugal, with 6000 students and a teaching staff of 400. It comprises Departments covering all the main engineering specialities. In the R-FIELDBUS project, the involvement of ISEP-IPP will be mainly through its IPP-HURRAY! research group. The IPP-HURRAY! (an IPP research group HUgging Real-Time and Reliable Architectures for computing sYstems) undertakes research in the analysis, design and implementation of real-time and dependable computing systems. Moreover, the IPP-HURRAY! research group will also bring to the R-FIELDBUS consortium the useful inputs from two sub-contractors of ISEP-IPP:

ISEP-IPP will contribute to the R-FIELDBUS project in most WPs. Nevertheless special contributions will be given in the following main topics:

  1. Analysis, design and development of the real-time and dependable aspects concerning the R-FIELDBUS architecture;
  2. Analysis, design and development of the Multimedia support in R-FIELDBUS;
  3. Manufacturing automation field trial. For the field trial purpose, ISEP-IPP will work together with EFACEC Automação e Robótica, in order to set both the application as well as the requirements for the field trial demonstration at the ISEP-IPP’ s CIM Cell.
