Industry Session
For EWSN 2015, several invitees from industry will talk about their work and experiences with real-world applications ranging from health to transport. The industrial session will comprise of talks by each of our invited guest speakers addressing topics such as case studies, design methodologies, tools, deployment experiences and industry challenges, followed by a short discussion panel. The idea is to motivate discussions for interesting and potentially disruptive technology directions, so that you can walk away with a few interesting ideas to pursue.

Francesco Flammini (Ansaldo STS)
Francesco Flammini got with honors his laurea (2003) and doctorate (2006) degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. Since 2003, he has worked in Ansaldo STS (Finmeccanica) on research and installation projects, specializing on the reliability, safety and security of transit systems and infrastructures. His most recent research interests are about surveillance and physical security information management. He is now responsible for the Innovation Network initiatives, mainly aimed at managing the relationships with universities and external research bodies. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Software Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Naples, and he has held seminars on topics related to computer dependability and critical infrastructure protection in degree and post-degree courses. He has edited several books and authored more than 50 scientific papers published in international journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He has served as a chairman and an editor for several international conferences and journals. He is an IEEE Senior Member, an ACM Distinguished Speaker, and serves as the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Critical Computer-Based Systems (IJCCBS).
Jorge Landeck (ISA Energy Efficiency)
Jorge Landeck is the CTO of ISA Energy Efficiency and Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. He owns a PhD in Technological Physics and has more than 20 years experience in the areas of software architecture, telemetry and distributed systems and instrumentation. He is author or co-author of several scientific publications in international refereed journals, managed several national and European projects and developed some innovative remote management systems.
Martin Kubisch (Airbus Group Innovations)
Martin Kubisch received his diploma in electrical engineering and Ph.D. from Technical University Berlin, Germany, respectively. He joined Airbus Group Innovations (formerly EADS Innovation Works) in 2008 and his research covers areas from reliable wireless to secure communication needs in aeronautical environments. His current research interests include energy-efficient networking, infrastructure-less security approaches, and domain/flow segregation. He has more than 25 publications at conferences and in journals.
Paulo Ferreira dos Santos (Kinematix)
Paulo is a serial entrepreneur - Paulo has already created 6 companies in different areas, from IT to real estate - and is the person that initially pushed to start-up Kinematix, after detecting the opportunity and a prototype of a device that further become the first company’s product, during his master studies in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship, in the Faculty of Engineering from the University of Porto.
The company’s vision, ambitious, excitement and international strategy reflects his profound know-how, ambition, commitment and excitement about this venture and the market opportunities, and his leadership qualities and style allowed the company to be able to gather a committed and aligned team as well as a credible list of partners, supporters and advisors.
He has a degree in computer sciences and management and a master degree in innovation and technological entrepreneurship, from the University of Porto, Portugal. He began his career in 1988.
Peter Priller (AVL ITS Global Research & Technology)
Peter Priller is technology scout for embedded systems in AVL ITS Global Research & Technology.
After graduating in electrical engineering at technical university Graz, Austria, he worked for some two years in ASIC development at an RFID startup. Since then he is with AVL Graz in various positions from software development to system architecture / real-time systems to software project management. Since 2011 he works in AVL ITS global R&T responsible for managing research cooperations and projects focusing on embedded systems and wired/wireless communication networks. Mr. Priller is involved in national and European research projects (currently ARROWHEAD, DEWI, EMC2) and holds several patents in the field of real time control and measurement systems. He lectures at the university of applied science (FH) computer network engineering, and at the technical university Graz on automotive test systems.
